Intersection, presented by Arc’teryx, is an event that pushes crews of artistic snow sports visionaries to their limits as they aim to create a masterpiece that truly captures the beauty of ski and snowboard culture. Five invited crews and one Wild Card selection, will have a four-week window to shoot, edit, and submit a five to seven-minute winter action sports film. The show takes place April 9th at the Whistler Conference Centre where each film will be judged live, by a panel of industry experts and the audience!

Airtime

“A mixed group with a shared love of airtime.” The Airtime team is a collection of highly skilled athletes and passionate filmmakers. This film will blend high energy action with cinematic storytelling, capturing the spirit of pushing boundaries in the mountains.

Friendly Fire

Friendly Fire is a group of ski and snowboard homies ripping all over BC. From the deep Selkirk pow of Revelstoke to the legendary backcountry and park of Whistler, we respect and feel the rhythm of the mountains. No egos, just high vibes and good times.

Shmobb

Shmobb is a crew of boarders in whistler chasing each other around the mountains with the love of snowboarding.

The Reserves

The crew you call when the crew you called first doesn’t answer / A bunch of friends who enjoy riding, beer, loud music and rock and roll.

Baked Goods

Baked Goods is a snowboard and ski crew serving the freshest lines, the deepest turns, and a lot of buttery smooth style. Whether cooking up backcountry sends or stacking clips at the resort, this crew knows how to rise to the occasion. Filmed and edited by Jeremy Allen and Shane Roy, their videos are the perfect recipe for high-energy action and good times—because the best days are always freshly baked

Wild Card Crew

Buck Hunters

The Buck Hunters are a crew of boarders scattered through the sea 2 sky. Down for anything from street steel to a cheese wedge and everything in between. The crew consists of a few long time members as well as some new blood, but it feels like family.

Meet The Judges

Alex Armstrong

Alex Armstrong, or as her friends call her, Army, is a professional big mountain skier based out of Squamish, British Columbia on the unceeded ancestral territories of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) Nation. As an ex-ski racer from Ottawa, Ontario and ex-ski patroller, she combines her technical skiing skills and mountain sense to reach the high mountain peaks of Western Canada and shred them on the way down.
After self-producing the Skier Rich series and receiving a nomination for Female Performance of the Year at iF3 in 2021, Army has graced the big screen with the likes of Blank Collective and TGR
Aaron Leyland

Aaron Leyland

Aaron’s been filming snowboarding and snowmobiling in the Sea to Sky for the past 20 years. He spent time as the staff cinematographer at Burton Snowboards and Monster Energy, and is a Multi-time, X-Games RealSnow, RealMoto medalist. Currently, Aaron is a content creator for Ski-Doo and Fujifilm and backcountry cooking enthusiast.

Jeff Schmuck

Jeff Schmuck is the Editor of Forecast Ski Magazine, Canada’s premiere skiing-focused media outlet, and is a well-known media figure in the sport of skiing. Originally from Rossland, British Columbia, but now based in Whistler, Jeff has been working in the ski industry for more than 20 years, during which time he’s travelled all over the world to cover countless film and photo shoots, along with nearly every major freeskiing event in existence, and has also served as the Head Judge of the iF3 Film Festival for over a decade.
Claire Thompson

Claire Thompson

Originally from Toronto, Claire grew up ski racing and coaching in Collingwood, Ontario.Her racing roots sparked a passion for freeride, leading her to move to Whistler in 2015.After ski bumming in Whistler, she decided to upgrade her living quarters by entering the corporate world.Now working in Sports Marketing at Arc’teryx, she supports mountain athletes in achieving their goals.
Having spent years cheering from the crowd, Claire is excited to take a new seat this year as a judge at Intersection.

Ben Webb

Ben has been creating captivating content on and off snow for nearly 15 years. As an award winning filmmaker, Ben has worked with some of the biggest brands and athletes in snowboarding and beyond. Red Bull, Transworld, Full Moon, King Snow, The Man Boys and countless others have seen Ben behind the lens and deep in the editing cave.

An ally of the unusual, Robjn navigates ridiculousness with a straight face and a steady hand. But above all, his filmmaking is grounded firmly in the pursuit of communicating ideas in entertaining ways.
