I remember when Swollen Members first started coming to Whistler; they’d hang out at the skate park and occasionally throw down. I’d see them at house parties and stand on the outskirts as they rap battled anyone who was willing. Madchild and Prevail never stopped coming to Whistler even as they gained national fame and this year is no different.  They are going to be a part of Gibbon’s Plazapalooza on Saturday, April 11th.

Swollen Members is a Canadian hip hop group from Vancouver, consisting mainly of the duo Madchild and Prevail. Frequent collaborators include vocalist Moka Only (who was actually a member of the group for a short period of time in the mid-1990s when the group was formed, and then again from 2002 to 2005) and producer Rob the Viking, an official group member since 2002. Swollen Members has released nine studio albums, one greatest hits album and 2 compilations, as well as numerous other singles.

Over the course of their decade long career, Swollen Members has managed to develop some of the most electrifying hip-hop chemistry. From the release of their debut album “Balance” in 1999, Swollen Members captivated the underground hip-hop world with live shows that took the raw explosive energy of rock music and powered it with the group’s lyrical abilities. The group’s universal appeal caught the attention of both underground and mainstream audiences and while earning accolades, as well as Juno Awards, and Video awards.

Don't miss Swollen Members on the Mainstage at Gibbons Plazapalooza, April 11th from 6:00-7:30pm.
